I am attempting a 6 gallon Founders Red's Rye clone based on some research I did on the internet. Lots of Belgian caramel malts, lots of Amarillo hops. Hopefully, it will turn out as tasty as the original. PM me for directions.

Jim,

I'm going to stop by, I need to run the dog around the park a couple of times in the morning but think I'll be able to turn up around 10.

I didn't think you would unless you had a hot tub time machine.

Here it is:

Quote:
65% 10lb Breiss American Two-row Pale
16% 2lb 8oz Weyermann Rye Malt
6% 1lb Weyermann Caramunich II
5% 12oz Breiss Caramel Malt - 40L
3% 8oz Breiss Caramel Malt -120L
3% 8oz Cara-Pils
2% 4oz Belgian Aromatic
100% 15lb 8oz

Batch size: 6.0 gallons
Original Gravity - 1.065 (@ 70% efficiency
Final Gravity - 1.017
Color - 14° SRM / 28° EBC (Copper to Red/Lt. Brown)
ABV - 6.4%

hops
boil 60 mins 0.875 Yakima Magnum pellet 14.4% AA
boil 20 mins 1.25 Amarillo pellet 8.6% AA
boil 10 mins 1.25 Amarillo pellet 8.6% AA
boil 1 min 1.25 Amarillo pellet 8.6% AA
dry hop 7 days 2.25 Amarillo pellet 8.6% AA
BU:GU - 1.01
IBUs - 68

For some reason, I got super efficiency and collected slightly less than 6 gallons, so my OG was 1.073. Instead of being a Red's Rye clone, I'll call it "Hop Red Rye."

I'll be the judge of that. Do you need my address?

You can decide for yourself in June. I'll bring it to the meeting for the American Wheat and Rye month.

Duly noted.

Otherwise, I'm forming a committee with Brad and we're doing an on-site inspection. Sounds like an great recipe, I love a little extra crystal and Amarillo in my IPAs.
