MCAB XVII Finals

Postby jeffjm » Fri Feb 27, 2015 5:36 pm

There is good news and bad news about the MCAB finals. The good news is that details have been posted, but the bad news is that entries are due April 10. Judging will be April 18th. You must be a qualifying brewer to enter (meaning you won an MCAB-eligible category in an MCAB qualifier last year). Qualifying brewers are listed at http://masterhomebrewer.org/MCAB_XVII_QB_namesort.htm.

Brews members eligible for various categories include:

Brian Fresenburg (American Ale)
John Harrison and Troy Bedik (Pilsener)
Andy Laidlaw (English Pale Ale, Stout)
Jeff Muse (IPA, German Wheat and Rye)
Christian Staum (Belgian Strong Ale)
Jacob Voss (Belgian Strong Ale)

More info is available at http://masterhomebrewer.org/MCAB_XVII_info.htm. The club will DEFINITELY ship to this event.
I set out running but I take my time.

The only categories I am eligible to enter for MCAB are IPA and German Wheat/Rye - not sours.

Drunk Monk is full, and NHC registration is over. The next major competition is Spirit of Free Beer. I can enter it there listing "St. Louis Brews Barrel Project" or something similar as the brewer. Our Flanders turned out well - I'm curious to see how it will do.

I wish I could take credit for brewing the Pilsner with John, but it wasn't me. I've updated Jeff's post to include the real co-brewer - Troy Bedik.

Thanks, Mike. That could cause a problem with John's entry to the finals if Troy's name on it and not yours. We might need to get that straightened out with the MCAB organizer, so I sent mail to John asking if he's planning on entering.

I really hope they can straighten it out. It was a fine Pilsner. Won 2nd place in BOS.

I'm shipping on Monday April 6th. If you get your entry to me either at the April 2 meeting or a day or two afterwards, that's fine. We don't have a BJCP class on April 5th due to Easter.

Congratulations to Christian Staum, who took a silver in Belgian Strong Ale with his tripel!
