Looking for Red Rye IPA recipe. Anyone know of any good ones? Im looking to brew this one for St Pattys Day.

This is a great recipe. Got me a 2nd place in a recent competition.

Denny Conn's Rye IPA ::: 1.069/1.015 (6 Gal)
Grain Bill (70% Efficiency assumed)
11 lb.- 2-Row Pale Malt
3 lb. - Rye Malt (15 L)
1.25 lb. - Crystal Malt (60L)
1/2 lb. - CaraPils
1/2 lb. - Flaked Wheat

Hop Schedule (48 IBU)
1 oz - Mt. Hood Hops [5.1% AA] (First Wort Hop) 1 oz - Columbus Hops [16.5% AA] (60 min.)
1/2 oz - Mt. Hood Hops (30 min.)
1.5 oz. - Mt. Hood Hops (1 min.)
1 oz. - Columbus Hops (Dry Hopped)

Yeast
Wyeast (1450) - Denny's Favorite or Wyeast (1272) Amercan Ale II - 1800 ml starter

Mash/Sparge/Boil
Mash at 153° for 60 min.
Sparge as usual
Cool and ferment at about 68°

Basically you add hops to the boil kettle at the beginning of your sparge (if you're fly sparging). I would assume that if you're batch sparging, you would just add them to the bucket (or kettle) when you start running off your first runnings.

This sounds pretty tasty. Anything you would change having already brewed it, Tim? Mt. Hood seems like an interesting choice for an IPA.

I brewed a second time using the same grain bill but used only Amarillo hops. It was delicious!

Denny's is a great recipe but I usually up the dry hops to 2 ounces and add an additional ounce of columbus at flameout. Turns out great!

Here is one of my rye IPA recipes that is not quite red but delicious. You could add a touch of pale chocolate malt to redden it up a bit.
