Site Upgrades Coming Soon

Postby beermikester » Wed Feb 15, 2012 8:01 am

If you haven't read the front page of the site, please do so.

On Tuesday, February 21, we will be shutting down the Forum for a few days while we upgrade software and change hosting providers. The changes we are making will eliminate those darn errors that appear when sending PMs or posting messages, and will allow new, legitimate users to sign up for our forum.

Sigh. The update is postponed for a short time. More information is on the front page of the site, but the long and short of it is that we need to change the contact information for the site before we can change the nameserver information, and we need to do that by fax. I should be able to get the appropriate information faxed to Network Solutions tomorrow, and we hope to get an answer by the end of the week. At that time, we will re-schedule the site move.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but it will be well worth the trouble when it is all completed.

Mike

Network Solutions told us on the phone it needed to be faxed in, but the form indicates I can scan it and email it. No carrier pigeon needed.

We finally have access to the account at Network Solutions. John and I anticipate that we will shut down the forum some time mid-afternoon today. At that time, we will take a snapshot of the forum, and import that into the new host. The DNS change will then be propograted through the internet, which could take between 12 and 48 hours.

If you check the site and see a welcome message on the home page, you will know that you are pointed to the new site.
